Following the commencement of the IJMB programme at Claretian University of Nigeria, Maryland Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, about six months ago, an assessment and resource verification visit was conducted by the representatives of IJMB, from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State, on Monday the 9th of March, 2026. The team was received by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Very Rev. Fr. Professor Wenceslaus Madu and other principal officers of the University. During a meeting that was held with the staff of CUN, the Coordinator of the IJMB programme at the university, Mr. Vitus Ekeocha provided a detailed presentation highlighting, student enrollment statistics, academic structure and course offerings, as well as staffing arrangements, facilities dedicated to the programme amongst others. The assessment team then held an interactive session with the IJMB students before conducting a physical inspection of the facilities designated for the programme.The facilities inspected were Lecture halls and classrooms, library resources, science laboratories Administrative offices, student support facilities. In his observation, the leader of the delegation, Professor Adebayo Oyewale explained that the university has made significant efforts within the short period of the programme’s existence to provide conducive learning environments for IJMB students. He however noted some areas of improvement. As part of its quality assurance mandate, the IJMB Board periodically conducts assessment visits to affiliated institutions to evaluate compliance with academic standards, adequacy of facilities, staffing, and the level of programme implementation.
