CLARETIAN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA BOOSTS STAFF CAPACITY, PROFESSIONALISM WITH TWO-DAY TRAINING

Fri 09,Oct 2026

The Claretian University of Nigeria (CUN) has concluded a two-day training workshop aimed at promoting discipline, ethical conduct and improved performance among its Academic and Non-Teaching Staff. The workshop, which held on Tuesday, 6 October and Wednesday, 7 October 2026, at the University Auditorium, featured separate sessions for Academic and Non-Teaching Staff. The Academic Staff participated on Tuesday, while the Non-Teaching Staff attended on Wednesday. The training which was facilitated by two renowned academics, Rev. Fr. Professor Bon Nwigwe and Professor Julian Osuji, focused on two key areas: Work Discipline and Ethics and Staff Appraisal. Discussions centred on professional responsibility, ethical standards, workplace conduct and effective approaches to appraising staff performance. The facilitators who drew extensively from their wealth of experience in the academia spanning more than two decades, provided participants with practical perspectives on professional conduct, workplace effectiveness and the responsibilities associated with their respective roles. The training also featured interactive sessions and question-and-answer segments, giving participants the opportunity to engage the facilitators, seek clarification on pertinent issues and share perspectives arising from their professional experiences. The programme brought together key members of the University's management structure, including Deans of faculties and Heads of various Departments alongside other members of the Academic Staff, while Heads of Units joined the Non-Teaching Staff during their session. Speaking on behalf of the University Management, the Registrar, Rev. Fr. Professor John Ezenwankwor, expressed profound appreciation to the facilitators for what he described as the wonderful job they had done. He encouraged the participants to translate the knowledge and insights gained from the training into practical action, for the growth and development of their respective departments and the University at large. The successful completion of this training workshop reflects the University's commitment to maintaining high standards of service and fostering a work environment where professionalism and responsibility remain central to institutional progress.
