NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL OF NIGERIA CONCLUDES ADVISORY/ACCREDITATION VISIT TO CUN

On Monday the 24th of October, 2022, an Advisory/Accreditation team from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) Abuja, FCT, visited Claretian University of Nigeria CUN.

In his welcome Address, the Vice Chancellor of CUN, Rev. Fr. Professor Wenceslaus Madu, expressed joy and optimism that the visit would bring a heart-warming outcome. He thanked the Secretary General/Registrar of NMCN, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar for his rare commitment in promoting and maintaining excellence in the Nursing and Midwifery education in Nigeria.

The VC appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Imo State, Dr. Prosper Ohayagha Success for coming despite his busy schedules. He equally thanked the leader of the team and her colleagues. “We look forward to your visionary recommendations for suitability index, criteria for employment, staff, student ratio and other parameters that would place us in the trajectory of a promising beginning,” the VC said.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is a body charged with the responsibility of approving and regulating the Nursing and Midwifery education in Nigeria. Their visit was to ascertain the level of preparedness for the commencement of Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) degree program in the University.

Recall that a team of assessors from the National Universities’ Commission (NUC) had paid a similar visit to CUN on the 8th of September, 2022. After the visit, the Commission sent in their reports and approved the facilities for the commencent of Nursing Sciences Programme in the University.
