On Saturday the 17th of December, 2022, the Management, Staff and Students of Claretian University Nigeria, CUN, gathered at the University Auditorium to celebrate it’s maiden Christmas Party.

In his opening remarks, the Bursar of the University and Organizing committee member, Rev. Fr. Henry Osuagwu thanked everyone for coming and assured that although, the event was the first of it’s kind since the inception of the University in 2021, it was well prepared for everyone to relax and enjoy, in order to celebrate Christ the reason for the season.

In his Christmas Message, the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Professor Wenceslaus Madu, said Christmas offers us an opportunity to appreciate God Almighty for leading us successfully through the year, in spite of its enormous challenges, and allowing His son our Lord Jesus Christ to be born amongst us.

He encouraged everyone to emulate the mysteries of Christmas which is, Christ the prince of peace and man of justice. He admonished students to be of good conduct and find time to pray and connect with their families and friends, and be security conscious.

The Vice Chancellor used the opportunity to remind everyone about the forthcoming 2023 general election in the country. “I urge you all to collect your PVCs from INEC in readiness for exercising your civic responsibilities next year.” He said.

He announced that the new semester will usher in a new curriculum of studies as recently released by the National universities commission, which will introduce new dynamics in the students’ academic pursuits and this would be ICT- driven.

The event featured musical renditions and Cultural dances amongst others. It had in attendance all the Principal Officers of the University, other teaching and non- teaching staff and some friends of CUN.
