The educational management model of the Claretiano – University Center of Batatais will be applied in the African country.
In the first week of November, Claretiano – Centro Universitário de Batatais was visited by representatives of the Claretian University of Nigeria (https://claretianuniversity.edu.ng/). The meeting had as its objective the consolidation of a partnership which aims to export the educational model and the governance structure of Claretiano to the African country.
Wenceslaus Chigekwu Madu, vice-rector of the Nigerian university, and Chukwuemeka Iheanacho Okereke, director of technological innovation, got to know in depth the projects and strategies executed by the institution. They spent four days immersing themselves in the pedagogical, technological, administrative, infrastructure, business, marketing, and people management areas.
The idea is that the Claretian standard will be applied in the new courses that will be offered in Nigeria, starting in 2022. Also for next year, a team is expected to return to Batatais for another professional exchange.
To mark the partnership, on November 3rd, a collaboration agreement was signed between the institutions. The event was attended by the rector of Claretiano, Fr. Dr. Sérgio Ibanor Piva, the administrative pro-rector, Fr. Luiz Claudemir Botteon, the academic pro-rector, Prof. Dr. Luis Claúdio de Almeida, and managers from different areas of Claretiano.
The document was also signed by the Provincial Superior of the Claretian Missionaries of Brazil, Father Marcos Aurélio Loro, during a meeting held the following day in the city of São Paulo.
After signing the term of collaboration, the vice-rector of Claretian University highlighted the relevance of the partnership. “Today we begin a very important journey. The intention is that it will extend and become a mutual benefit. Even with limited resources, we hope that this spirit of leadership can transform the way we operate in Nigeria,” Wenceslaus stressed.
The rector of Claretiano – University Center of Batatais, Dr. Fr. Sergio Piva, emphasized the union of Claretian institutions. “It is the realization of Claret’s mission and the maturing of the Claretian charism when we act in people’s way of being and living. We are truly incarnating the Word of God”, he stressed.
