In its significant quest for a wider collaboration to support healthcare service delivery and medical training, the Consolata Health and Welfare Foundation (CHEW) has donated some vital hospital equipment to the Padre Pio Claretian University Hospital, Maryland Nekede, Owerri, Imo State. The donation took place on Friday the 13th of February, 2026 when the leadership of the Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of CUN, Very Rev. Fr. Professor Wenceslaus Madu. Speaking at the occasion, the leader of the delegation and founder of CHEW, Mrs. Chinyere U. Kalu said her Foundation was pioneered by the late Rev. Fr. Professor Edmund Igboanusi, whose inspiration has continued to motivate the organization in its quest to support quality healthcare service delivery across different institutions and organizations. The Vice Chancellor of CUN expressed his profound appreciation to CHEW Foundation for their generosity. He noted that the equipment would not only improve service delivery at the hospital, but also provide significant practical learning opportunities for the students who are in the health-related disciplines. The Administrator of the hospital, Rev. Fr. Professor John Ezenwankwor received the equipment on behalf of the hospital and appreciated the Foundation for the donation, describing it as timely and impactful. The event brought together members of CUN management, Administrator of the hospital, and the leadership of CHEW Foundation. The donated equipment were Resuscitating machine, Respirator, some equipment for oxygen refill and other essential medical tools meant to enhance patient care, support clinical procedures, and strengthen the overall capacity of the hospital to serve the public The occasion ended with a formal presentation of certificate of Recognition and Award of Excellence to Saint Padre Pio Claretian University Hospital in memory of late Rev.
