On Saturday the 15th of November, 2025, the serene campus of Claretian University of Nigeria, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, will bubble with celebration as the faith-based institution holds her maiden Convocation Ceremony. The event shall be heralded by a line-up of activities including Chancellor's Dinner and a pre convocation lecture to be delivered by the former Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed on the theme-Education,Values and the Public Good: Reimagining Private Universities as Partners in National Development.

This historic celebration will mark a major milestone in the life of the young university, owned and managed by the Claretian Missionaries, an international religious congregation renowned for its commitment to education, selfless service, and moral formation.

At Claretian University, every student is inspired to pursue knowledge with purpose, creativity, and service to humanity. Here, education is not just about acquiring degrees—it is about forming a holistic human being: intellectually, morally, and spiritually balanced. Graduating students of CUN will therefore be celebrated not just for their academic achievements but for embodying the Claretian spirit of excellent service and leadership. 

The forthcoming convocation will not only be a moment of joy for the graduating students and their families but also a testament to the university’s steady progress since its establishment in 2021. The ceremony will reflect the university’s unique blend of intellectual pursuit and moral formation; and this underscores the dogged and visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, the Very Rev. Fr. Professor Wenceslaus Madu, CMF, the Governing Council and the team of eminently qualified Staff and Management of the Institution.

The event will feature addresses from renowned personalities in education, religion, and public life, underscoring the institution’s growing reputation as a faith-inspired university contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s higher education landscape. It is an opportunity to equally recognize the overall best graduating students and five other first class graduates who have distinguished themselves in their various disciplines.

This maiden convocation will therefore serve as both a celebration and a new beginning: a celebration of achievement, and the beginning of a legacy that will continue to grow stronger with every graduating class. As the first set of CUN graduates step into the world, they will carry the banner of a university built on faith, knowledge, and service to humanity.
